What 'I am an Artist' gets right
On creativity before self-consciousness
There’s a spread in I Am an Artist by Marta Altés that I kept going back to after I finished the book.

A child sits on top of this completely improbable tower of objects that looks like it should collapse at any second. There are books, drawers, vases, a watering can, a clock, a box labelled fragile, and a cat balancing very confidently on the child’s head as though this is all perfectly reasonable.
